Mythic is thrilled to announce that our work for Charlotte Ballet’s premiere of Swan Lake has been recognized by the international Graphis Poster 2025 Awards.
The Swan Lake out-of-home series took home a silver for poster design within the dance category at the renowned competition honoring the very best in poster design from around the world. We’re proud to have done justice to our client’s spectacular performance and to the ballet’s iconic narrative.
Beloved by dance aficionados and novices alike, Swan Lake’s highly technical choreography pushes performers to the brink, both in its physical demands and emotionally charged story of good, evil, love and betrayal. Charlotte Ballet Artistic Director Alejandro Cerrudo challenged us to generate new audience interest in a well-known story.
To communicate the ballet’s inherent beauty and darkness, we created a series of images that obscure the swan princess’s face. A water effect ripples across the images, a magical light that further conceals and enchants. The type’s dramatic crossbars and gentle curves lend an otherworldly feel to the title, echoing the intricate text you might find in a spellbook. And of course, the choice to go full black and white plays on the story’s iconic White Swan / Black Swan duality.
This honor marks our second year in a row of being awarded in the Graphis competition; Mythic also received a Gold award for Charlotte Ballet’s "Unveiled. Unbelievable." campaign for the 2022/2023 season.
